Everything you need to know to be prepared and enjoy the FILBo 2019

Both the FILBO 2018 and its previous deliveries have been well received by the national and international public, and therefore (and some other details that we will tell you later), this 32nd edition will not be the exception to the rule.

The 2019 International Book Fair in Bogotá will take place at its Corferias headquarters, a place that is already traditional for this event and which is stored in the memory of its visitors. The incredible event will take place between April 25 and May 6. And its main characteristic this year 2019 is that the invited country will be Colombia.

Why is Colombia the guest country in FILBo 2019?

This honor was given to Colombia due to the 200 years of the Battle of Boyacá, and one of the main objectives is to commemorate the concepts and ideas with which the Republic was born.

“… this is a government that wants and gives great value to the culture and the creative industry. So seeing Colombia as a guest country fills us with pride and reaffirms our commitment. ” Iván Duque, current president of Colombia, said.

What will we see in FILBo 2019?

For this edition number 32, the main event is in the historic moment that gave birth to the Republic, where ethnic and social groups will be responsible for feeding these experiences and anecdotes from two centuries ago, and continue to the present. It will be supported by audible and printed testimonies.

Sovereignty, Citizenship, Independence and Equality are the four concepts that will be the driving threads during the event; concepts bases for the creation of our country.

In addition, the tour seeks that their visitors think and analyze these concepts, identify them at present and engage in dialogue the way in which they all contribute as citizens.

We can also see:

  • An exhibition space that will discuss the four concepts mentioned above, with real life cases documented 200 years ago.
  • Spaces of participation through the printing press. In this place we seek to give an invitation to the community so that they can participate in a type of group creation or collective creation, revolving around the dreams of our past.
  • An auditorium in which there will be more than 100 activities that are divided between cultural programming and literary programming. In addition, there will be several routes designed for schools during the morning sessions.
  • A bookstore which will be endowed with a complete editorial sample, with titles of authors (both Colombian and foreign) that address themes in Colombia and the time of independence, from different and varied branches of knowledge.
  • There will be a “chichería”, which will have as main function to make known the stories of the women who were pioneers and contributed to the construction of the citizenship of the newly independent Colombia.
  • There will be a sample of traditional Colombian cuisine, which is expected to be a success with national visitors, but even more so with international visitors.
  • More than 1,700 activities which will be located in themes, which will serve as a means for visitors to quickly discover events and activities of interest, or to try their luck.
